Logistics

Students live on the campus of Cal Poly and engage in academic workshops each weekday morning. In addition to their academic morning courses, students spend the afternoon either in College Readiness Workshops (i.e. Speaking with Confidence, Finances 101, Essay Writing, and College Admissions) or doing our True You program which explores elements of one's real self including strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.

Check-in

  • Residential students: 4-6 p.m. on first day of program

  • Commuter students: 5-6 p.m. on first day of program

Check-out

  • Residential students: by 10 a.m. on the last day of program (Friday)

  • Commuter students: 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. on the last Thursday of the program

Traveling by Car

Students are not permitted to drive their car during the program, and there is no on-campus parking for students with cars.

Traveling by plane

Optional chaperoned airport transfers are available for an additional fee or students may take taxi or rideshare to campus independently.

  • San Luis Obispo (SBP) airport transfer: $95 each way

    • Students who arrive during the flight window 

      • will be met by a SSB staff member.

      • will wait at the airport with staff until the end of the flight window

      • will travel back to campus at the end of the flight window

    • Students who arrive before the flight window

      • will not be met (unless they pay the flight supplement) by SSB staff member

    • Students who arrive outside the flight window can pay a $100 supplement fee and 

      • will be met by a SSB staff member.

      • may travel back to campus with other students

Lodging

  • Students will be in Poly Canyon Village.

  • Residential students live in suite-style apartments, with 4-5 single rooms in a shared apartment that includes a bathroom and common area.

  • Linens, a pillow and a bath towel will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring a blanket, pillow and beach towel for their comfort.

Meals

Students receive three meals per day. They are welcome to bring extra money for purchasing their own snacks, coffee, or for use in the vending machines.

Student Rules & Policies

Students and parents must review and sign a Summer Springboard Code of Conduct Agreement which has a zero tolerance policy against the use or possession of alcohol, tobacco products, marijuana, illegal substances, and non-prescribed controlled substances as well as bullying, verbal, physical, and sexual harassment. Students found breaking the law or any of the rules & policies detailed within the Code of Conduct Agreement will result in immediate dismissal or probation at the discretion of the Summer Springboard staff. Once a student is on probation and another rule is broken by the student, they will be sent home immediately. Please review the Summer Springboard Code of Conduct form carefully.
